Perimeter of Pentagon

Perimeter of Pentagon - Formula & Examples

Perimeter of a Polygon

Perimeter of a polygon is the sum of the lengths of all the sides of a polygon.

A Pentagon is a 5 sided polygon.

The Perimeter of a Pentagon is equal to lengths of all the 5 sides added together.

In case of a regular pentagon, all 5 sides of a regular pentagon are equal.

Perimeter of a Regular Pentagon = 5 x Length of each side

P = 5 x a

Here “P” refers to Perimeter of a Regular Pentagon.
Length of each side of a regular pentagon is referred as “a”.

What is a perimeter of a regular pentagon with the length of each side equal to 14 cm?

P = Perimeter of Pentagon
a = Length of side of regular Pentagon

P = 5 x a

Here a = 14 cm

P = 5 x 14

P = 70 cm

What is the perimeter of a regular pentagon with the length of each side as 20 cm?

P = Perimeter of Pentagon
a = Length of side of regular Pentagon

P = 5 x a

Here, a = 20 cm

P = 5 x 20 cm

P = 100 cm

Perimeter of an irregular Pentagon

In case of an irregular Pentagon, all the sides are not of equal lengths.

The perimeter of an irregular Pentagon is simply the sum of the lengths of all the 5 sides of the Pentagon.

Perimeter of an irregular Pentagon = Sum of the length of all the 5 sides

Perimeter P = Sum of Lengths of 5 sides of irregular Pentagon

The length of 5 sides of an irregular pentagon ABCDE are given below. What is the perimeter of an irregular pentagon ABCDE?

Length of sides of Pentagon ABCDE.

Length of Side AB = 12 cm
Length of Side BC = 10 cm
Length of Side CD = 8 cm
Length of Side DE = 12 cm
Length of Side EA = 15 cm

Perimeter of Irregular Pentagon = Sum of Lengths of 5 sides of irregular Pentagon

Perimeter of Irregular Pentagon = 12 cm + 10 cm + 8 cm + 12 cm + 15 cm

Perimeter of Irregular Pentagon = 57 cm
