Skip Counting by 3

What is skip counting?

Skip counting is a method of counting by a fixed number other than 1. Instead of counting by ones, skip counting involves counting by a specific interval.

The specific interval can be another number for example 2, 3, 5, 10 etc.

Skip Counting by 3

Skip counting by 3 involves counting numbers in increments of 3, that means when skip counting by 3, 3 is added to a number to get the next number.

Example of skip counting by 3 starting from 100

When skip counting by 3, 3 is added to a number to get the next number.

100 + 3 = 103,

103 + 3 = 106,

106 + 3 = 109… and so on

100, 103, 106, 109, 112, 115… and so on.

Skip Counting by 3 starting from 20 will count as 20, 23, 26, 29, 32… and so on.

Skip Counting by 3 - Practice Examples

What comes after 91 in the figure below?

In the number pattern above adding 3 to a number gives the next number. The number after 91 will be 3 more that 91.

91 + 3 = 94

What comes next in the pattern below?

72,  75,  78,  81,  84,  ?

In the number pattern above adding 3 to a number gives the next number. The number after 84 will be 3 more than 84.

84 + 3 = 87

72,  75,  78,  81,  84,  87
