Skip Counting by 4

Skip Counting by 4 - Explanation and Examples

What is skip counting?

Skip counting is a method of counting by a fixed number other than 1. Instead of counting by ones, skip counting involves counting by a specific interval.

The specific interval can be another number for example 2, 3, 5, 10 etc.

Skip Counting by 4

Skip counting by 4 involves counting numbers in increments of 4, that means when skip counting by 4, 4 is added to a number to get the next number.

Example of skip counting by 4 starting from 100

When skip counting by 4, 4 is added to a number to get the next number.

100 + 4 = 104,

104 + 4 = 108,

108 + 4 = 112 … and so on

100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120… and so on.

Skip Counting by 4 starting from 15 will count as 15, 19, 23, 27… and so on.

Skip Counting by 4 - Practice Examples

What comes after 44 in the figure below?

44 + 4 = 48

What comes next in the pattern below?

35,  39,  43,  47,  51,  ?

In the number pattern above adding 4 to a number gives the next number. The number after 51 will be 4 more than 51.

51 + 4 = 55

35,  39,  43,  47,  51,  55
