Skip Counting by 50 - Explanation and Examples

What is skip counting?

Skip counting is a method of counting by a fixed number other than 1. Instead of counting by ones, skip counting involves counting by a specific interval.

The specific interval can be another number for example 2, 3, 5, 10 etc.

Skip Counting by 50

Skip counting by 50 involves counting numbers in increments of 50, that means when skip counting by 5050 is added to a number to get the next number.

Example of skip counting by 50 starting from 100

When skip counting by 50, 50 is added to a number to get the next number.

100 + 50 = 150,

150 + 50 = 200,

200 + 50 = 250… and so on

100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350… and so on.

Skip Counting by 50 starting from 75 will count as follows:

75, 125, 175, 225, 275 … and so on.

Skip Counting by 50 - Practice Examples

Q1. What comes after 230 in the figure below?

230 + 50 = 280

Q2. What comes next in the pattern below?

102,  152,  202,  252,  302,  ?

In the number pattern above adding 50 to a number gives the next number. The number after 302 will be 50 more than 302.

302 + 50 = 352

102,  152,  202,  252,  302,  352
