Telling Time to Nearest 5 Minutes – Practice Examples

Q1) What is the time in an analog clock shown here?

The short hand that is the hour hand of the clock, is almost at 5 but have not reached 5.

So the hour hand is in between 4 and 5. That means the time is 4 hour and some minutes.

The long hand, that is the minute hand of the clock is pointing at 10.

If the minute hand is pointing exactly at a number the minutes can be skip counted by 5s till the minute hand is reached.

If the minute hand is pointing in between the numbers then the minutes can be skip counted by 5s till the number before the minute hand and then count by ones till the minute hand is reached.

The minute hand in this example is pointing at 50 minutes.

The time in this example is 4 hour and 50 minutes.
